Comedy + storytelling

Find Your Funny

3 hours · 8–30 people · no experience required

Everybody in the room has already lived the funny part. This workshop is about finding it, shaping it, and saying it out loud on purpose. Three hours, from blank page to a 3-minute set delivered in front of the group. No comedy background needed — just a life with some wreckage in it.

The full 3-hour agenda

Hour 1

Mine your life for material

Guided prompts pull out the stories you usually keep to yourself — the divorce, the doctor's office, the group chat, the job you finally quit. We write fast and messy, no editing, no apologizing.

Walk out with: A page of raw material and three stories worth telling.

Hour 2

Turn stories into jokes

Setup, punch, and the pause in between. We cut the words that don't earn their spot, find the real angle, and test lines on each other so you can hear what actually lands.

Walk out with: One story shaped into a 3-minute set with real punchlines.

Hour 3

Stand up and deliver

Mic in hand, everybody performs. Jenn coaches pacing, eye contact, and what to do when a joke dies — because it will, and that's survivable.

Walk out with: A performed set, plus notes on what to keep and what to cut.

Key takeaways

  • A written, performable 3-minute set in your own voice
  • A repeatable method for turning any hard story into material
  • The basic mechanics of joke structure — setup, punch, tag
  • Stage tools: pacing, the pause, and recovering from a bomb
  • Proof that you can hold a room, because you already did it once

Who it's for

  • Women who have been told they're funny and never done anything about it
  • Women's groups, retreats and book clubs wanting something braver than a craft table
  • Total beginners who have never touched a microphone
  • Speakers and leaders who want more humor in what they already say on stage

Not for you if you want to sit quietly and take notes — everyone performs in hour three.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any comedy or performance experience?
Not at all. The workshop is built for total beginners. If you've never held a mic, that's the point.
What should I bring?
Something to write with and a willingness to be honest. A notebook, a pen, and water. Jenn brings the prompts, the structure, and the bad jokes.
Is the room accessible?
Jenn needs a ground-floor or elevator-accessible room with space for a chair to be moved or removed as needed. Tell her about any mobility, hearing, or vision needs when you book and she'll make it work.
What's the refund policy?
For hosted groups, deposits are refundable up to 14 days before the event. Within 14 days the deposit can move to a rescheduled date. Individual ticket sales, if offered, are refundable up to 7 days out.
Will I really have to perform?
Yes — in hour three everyone does a short 3-minute set. But the room is warm, the crowd is on your side, and bombing is part of the curriculum.
